AS 7006
After Nadcap, AS 7006 is the most difficult certification to
obtain for an enterprise. It is the main standard used by testing and calibration laboratories.
In comparison with other quality systems, AS 7006 adds in the concept of competence
"technical exams" to the equation.
The technical requirements address the competence of staff, methodology and test/calibration equipment.
When a laboratory is certified AS 7006 it can perform tests and analysis for all the industries
around the world, the certification being the same for all continents. It allows material tested in North
America being certified for all other countries in the world.
Laboratories use AS 7006 to implement a quality system aimed at improving their ability to consistently produce valid results.
Since the standard is about competence, accreditation is a formal recognition of a demonstration of that competence.
Labs Certified to AS 7006 can ensure NIST Traceability must pass Exams per 2 years is compared to 100 Labs must be within 3 sigma must have a CI under 10% |
